Installationsl Given a chance installations art would be my favourite - “art de jour”. Like “Ready, Steady, Cook” where contestants bring an odd bag of food to the table and have a certain amount of time to create a meal, making sure it all worked together; forming a complete taste, composition, sensation and experience. That gets my taste buds for installations humming just thinking about it. A massive solo game of word association football disturbs my sleep and other thoughts when I get to do an installation, especially in an alternate space. Installations are a challenge compared to the PM's job one may say at the time!! Consideration to surrounds, people, culture, durability, scale, consents, not to mention executing the original concepts, all these concerns need to be taken into account for it to work. Years in the planning or grab a handful of bits and make a work in the afternoon, the adrenaline pumps. Held in public places is the best for me. Observing reactions adds to the overall satisfaction of the original reasons you started this crazy process. Installations for me are a roller coaster ride – a buzz and a half. The feedback from public, when it is in a public domain, who happen upon installations, as opposed to “going to a gallery to look at a work” is worth every cent of the the “stage fright sensation” that comes as part and parcel of working in a world I am comfortable in, but many bystanders may not be.
