Here
I have listed a few books and bits of reading materials which provide
a bit of an insight to me and thus how my works turn out. The more I read
and research, the more I find ideas and inspiration for pieces and meaning
in my work
All
and sundry really - as it all adds to my understanding of how we are made
up and how we work and fit in as a fairly cohesive society.
Anything and everything:
Boat mags to the NZ Listener;
Country Women's Institute cookbook
to Bill Hohepa
Metalsmithing to The Big Over
Easy
The back of cereal packets
to technical manuals
Books
that currently live by my bed for easy access and a bit of light reading
Brewer's Dictionary of Phrase and Fable
Collins English Dictionary
The New Zealand Herald book of Cryptic Crosswords - best of by D.K.S
Various cooking books,
NZ iconic books - A Good Keen Man (B. Crump)
NZ Short Stories - I only found out from an English friend the other day,
that NZ is one of the few countries that embrace the Short Story genre
- and we are seen to be expert in it in the world of writing.
Two Hundred Years of New Zealand Painting
Art News New Zealand
Artzone - must keep up with the times I feel
"Body Double" by Victoria Lynn on Australian artist Julie Rapp
Multiple Science Fiction books - my crazy husband bought 5 banana boxes
of Sci Fi books off Trade Me, which to have on a boat is a huge amount
of books - space and weight - to add to the mammoth pile of books that
we already have. No wonder the water line is dropping.
Note books that I have written in - I find it very interesting reading
what I found interesting at the time, say several years ago.
Then there are the note books that I am currently writing my thoughts
and ideas in.

is so often taken as "Gospel" which drives me nuts!!! Check, check and
double check the facts guys!!! Not all is true in web land.
