Kiwiana
metal fashioned attire du jour: Delicate and gusty. Decorative,
debonair or democratic?
The
galvanised iron is from scrap yards, friends' building projects,
etc.
Lots
of elbow grease and spit and polish - all in a day's work
- fitting as I comment on equal rights and opportunities in
the domestic home.
Some
of the copper dresses here came out of a copper basket that
had a base soldered on the bottom. Most of the basket was
lacquered, except for the very bottom part separated by the
base. I pulled offf the base ring exposing the solder, which
I then beat down on my anvil to produce the effects you see
on these piece. Other copper is from old washing coppers -often
mellowed with age - which I like to work in regards to the
final finish.
