I have referenced Linseed (flax seed) and turps in this work
as they were used in the painting of portraits and landscapes
which captured us as we were growing up by artists such as
Goldlie, Lindauer and Woollaston.
Metal
- an enduring material - shows its past makers' marks and
wear and tear - here part of the old tin shed where Dad tinkered,
and Mum potted up colour I wonder?
I think we just need to be reminded of our past from time
to time: who we are, the hard work we put in together and
where our memories lie. This piece reminds me of New Zealand
on holiday.
Nostalgia
or reality?
